Things are changing for Tesco at Dunmurry.

Welcome to our information website about the future of our Dunmurray store.
Despite our many years proudly serving the local community, our Dunmurry store is not owned by Tesco but has been on a long-term lease with our landlord. This lease is due to end in 2027.
We are really proud to be part of the Dunmurry community and remain committed to serving our local customers. That is why we are actively looking to open a brand new, slightly bigger modern Tesco Superstore in the immediate area. This will allow us to continue to offer exceptional service, create jobs and a provide a wide range of products for customers in a purpose-built new store.
We have identified that we can accommodate a new Tesco in spare space in the Makro building just down the road from the existing store, and we will soon begin engagement with the Planning Department within Belfast City Council about our plans.
It’s proposed the new Tesco store will co-exist seamlessly with Makro, featuring two entrances that provide easy access to both establishments, ensuring that both can thrive in a revitalised retail environment. We are also seeking permission to build a new petrol filling station.
If planning permission is approved, we plan to align the closure of this store with the opening of the new store and expect this to take place in 2027.
For now, our existing store will continue to trade as normal.
Working in partnership with the local community is important to us. Therefore, we are keen to receive feedback from those who live and work in the area. We will also be engaging with local public representatives in due course.
We encourage you to let us know if you have any questions or comments in relation to the proposed new store beside Makro by emailing feedback@dunmurrystore.com
This site will be updated as we have more information to share on the progress of the new store.

Planned Public Consultation Events
We plan to have consultation events on Thursday 23 Jan from 2-7pm and Thursday 6 March from 2-7pm at a venue to be confirmed. They will provide you with an opportunity ask any questions, raise any issues or express your support for the proposals. We look forward to seeing you there.

Feedback provided at this pre-application stage is for Tesco’s purposes only and does not represent a formal representation to the eventual planning application. There will be an opportunity to make representations to Belfast City Council when a formal application is made.
